In the Hanshin Republic, every person has their own Kudan. Kudan’s are part of every person in the world and they are spirits (like a soul) that protects their master. The Kudan’s are part of everyone including travellers such as Kurogane, Syaoran and Fay and Kudan’s are mainly used in battle. The use of the Kudan depends on the owners decision. The owner’s heart and mind controls a Kudan and this also influences the Kudan's rank. In total there are 5 ranks for Kudan’s. The Kanji for Kudan is shown on the right.

To the left is a diagram about the ranks of Kudan’s. In total there are 5 ranks. The Special Levels are the best and it shows that the owner is strong minded and is very powerful. The First Level is just below the Special Level and they have very strong Kudan’s. The Second Level, the Third Level and fourth Level onwards is where the Kudan’s owners are not as strong minded therefore they have a weak Kudan.

Syaoran's Kudan is the King of the Fire Beasts and he is Syaoran's Kudan because Syaoran wishes to have the power to protect someone special which is Sakura and to find Sakura's feathers again.

Fay's Kudan is a bird and is a fly type Kudan. The Kudan can enable Fay to fly but most Kudan's do not allow this kind of move. Although, Fay doesn't use any attack when using his Kudan so we don't know his Kudan's potential.

Kurogane's Kudan is a dragon and normally likes to take the form of a sword so that Kurogane can easierly attack.

First Level Kudan

Asagi's Kudan is a water type Kudan. It looks like a Ray made of Water.

The Rebel Leader's Kudan is a Crab like Kudan and it's body is covered in sharp blades.

Fourth Level Kudan

Masayoshi's Kudan takes the form of a human. All of the lowest ranked Kudan's take the form of a human and do not have any real powers except searching for people.
