Sakura is the princess of Clow Country and her childhood friend, Syaoran is an archaeologist. Yukito, the priest of the country, once said that Sakura has mysterious powers and that it would one day change the world. When Syaoran is excavating the ruins in Clow country, Sakura appears at the ruins after being called by them although she brings food for Syaoran as well. When Sakura glances at the symbol in the ruins, she is suddenly pulled into a trance by the symbol and wings start appear on her back as she starts to disappear into the symbol. Syaoran jumps up and grabs her before she disappears although her memories, which take the form of feathers, have been scattered across many dimensions. Yukito tells Syaoran that without these feathers, Sakura will die. He sends Syaoran and Sakura to Yuuko, the dimensional witch so that they can recover these memory fragments and save Sakura.

Once appearing in front of the dimensional witch, Syaoran screams, "Save Sakura” although two people arrive by his side. One by the name of Kurogane who wishes to go back to his own country of Nihon and Fay who wishes to go other worlds so that he never returns to his own. Yuuko grants these wishes although in order to carry out these wishes, she must receive payment from each person. She receives Fay's Phoenix Tattoo, Kurogane's Sword and Syaoran has to pay with the relationship he had with Sakura. Yuuko then gives Kurogane, Syaoran, Sakura and Fay a little creature by the name of, Mokona Modoki, to help them cross different dimensions.

When travelling to different worlds, they must overcome many dangers and obstacles to retrieve Sakura's Feathers.
